The Ultimate Halloween Character
The Inflatable Grim Reaper
The Grim Reaper has always been the symbol of Death and the inflatable Grim Reaper has given a new meaning to this. From as far back as anyone can remember this creature has been represented by a skeletal figure dressed in a cloak and hood.
Carrying a large scythe, the Grim Reaper is also known as the Angel of Death. The inflatable Grim Reaper too is seen to carry the traits of its original although there are many variations including the serious, the quirky and the downright silly!
Inflatable Grim Reaper Stories are Scary
There are of course many tales about the Grim Reaper, all horrifying and chilling including tales that the Grim Reaper can actually cause death. Part of the folklore is about cheating Death meaning cheating the Grim Reaper by bribing him or tricking and outwitting him to leave a person alone.
There are others who believe that the Grim Reaper is the creature responsible for severing the ties between the body and the soul and that the Grim Reaper has the responsibility of guiding the deceased to the next world. There are also those who believe that with the Grim Reaper’s arrival comes the message that the person who is about to die is destined for hell.
With these wonderfully chilling stories about the Grim Reaper, it is only natural that he plays a prominent role at Halloween. Usually posters of the Grim Reaper are available from stores and these are placed at strategic locations in the home to signify the entry of Death as part of All-Hallows-Eve.
However with the creation of the inflatable Grim Reaper, it is no longer necessary to be content with a one-dimensional representation of Death and we can now take this further. There are many variations of the Grim Reaper in inflatable form from the traditional dark hooded shadow of Death lurking behind the door to the Grim Reaper on a Harley Davidson to be parked in the front yard.
Life Sized Inflatable Grim Reaper for Halloween
Then there is the issue of size for this inflatable Grim Reaper. These come in human size as well as large 12 foot ones. The 12 foot ones are particularly spectacular and can be placed outdoors next to a corner wall of the home. With gentle lighting from within, the spooky impression that is created can scare the living daylights out of most people!
It is possible to now find the Grim Reaper in any number of poses and in a variety of situations. From astride on a Harley Davidson to being the coachman on a pumpkin, the Grim Reaper is even seen carrying “Beware” signs and lounging on sofas in Halloween decorated sitting rooms.
All in all, there is no denying the critical role the inflatable Grim Reaper can play at Halloween, whether it is at home, in a restaurant or just at a park corner. Care has to be taken however to ensure that where the Grim Reaper inflatable comes with lighting, that these are properly managed and that the lights should be set on a timer, after all, it would be unacceptable if the inflatable Grim Reaper went up in flames on Halloween now, would it?
